Food, friends, and a little bit of Easter

I spent this past weekend in the bay, wandering around the city, hanging out with friends, and visiting with family. I went my first Underground Market, where you stand in numerous lines to eat food produced in the home kitchens of the local folk. We got to taste some pretty yummy stuff....lumpia, empanadas, fish tacos, and mac n' cheese. Even after stuffing our stomachs, we made our way to Bi-Rite for some ice cream...must have dessert!

This weekend....
I also had some tasty ramen.

And an old lady at the next table made us a lovely chopstick rest.

The sun finally came out Sunday afternoon.

Penny finally let Elise carry her...for about 10 seconds.

Lindsey rode around the tennis court on a giant scooter.

And of course, I was in charge of dessert for the evening.

Rainbow Cookies:
a confection made with layers of brightly colored,
almond-based sponge cake, apricot  jam, and a chocolate coating

 Chick cake pop

A fun, yet busy, weekend, complete!

here we go...launch!

I recently got my first smartphone with a better camera than the one I currently have; I took to taking copious amounts of pictures of the things I bake, what I eat, and what I do throughout my days. In an attempt to minimize how much I infiltrate the Facebook news feeds of my friends, I've decided to start keeping track of my happenings here!

Last weekend I spent Saturday morning at McKinley Park with Jen and our doggies. It was a sunny day and the park was great (except for the duck poop), and it was nice to get to catch up.
Jen, taking a break in the shade with the doggies...

Penny was trying to get away!

I've been back at work for a couple of weeks now, but spent a lot of time over my "spring break" in Chico making some yummy treats (repeats for those that see my stuff on Facebook, my apologies)....
My greatest accomplishment....vanilla parisian macarons!
 Chex Muddie Buddies

 Dark chocolate almond joy

 Brown butter chocolate chip cookies
And I had to include Penny :)
